For my part, I would rather have flowers than almost anything she mentioned – finding something to put them in seems a small price to pay.

Maybe it’s a New York thing – or maybe she was just desperate to throw an article together…

Candles–unnnhh, I can take ‘em or leave ‘em.

Fancy soaps–naahhh, I am sensitive and use hypoallergenic soap.

Flowers are always nice.

If it’s a celebration balloon bouquets are fun.

If the hostess isn’t on a diet what’s wrong with cookies, candy or fudge?

I like to give things that will be used up so if the hostess isn’t crazy about the gift she won’t feel obligated to keep it so as not to hurt my feelings. (I wouldn’t decorate a dog house with half of the stuff that the article endorses.)

Remember one person’s art is another person’s trash!
